Why is Marriage important?

Marriage is supposed to tie a man and a woman together and strengthen their relationship. Today the world is seeing a new era where marriage is no longer considered necessary or even significant for a relationship. Islam has laid down rules and regulations for marriage and has considered marriage an important and essential part of a Muslim’s life.

  • The Creator of the Universe – Allah – has stated in the Quran, ‘And wed the single among you’.(C24 : V32). One can see from the above verse that the Creator of mankind himself has ordered us to marry.
  • Marriage is a vital part of a Muslim’s life. In fact, marriage is so important in the religion of Islam that it is declared to be one half of one’s faith. As a Muslim one should live in accordance with the Islamic Jurisprudence in the way shown by the greatest of creation and the being who had the greatest impact on mankind, The Holy Prophet Muhammad . The Prophet  himself married and also encouraged others to marry. It has been reported that The Prophet Muhammad  said, ‘A person who possesses the means to marry (i.e. he is able to work etc. to support a wife and children) and does not marry then he is not from amongst us (i.e. the believers).’

The difficulty in Finding a suitable spouse.

Unfortunately, we are living in a time where it has become increasingly difficult to find suitable spouses. This has resorted in a lot of young people using dating websites and other ways in finding their spouse. There is a lot of pressure for the young generation as there are often cultural preferences and other obstacles which they are faced with.

Why was this initiative set up?

Many parents have informed us on the difficulty on finding suitable matches for their children.  LCM has taken this initiative to create a service which provides the Sunni community to find suitable matches for the future spouses.

The procedure once the Marriage Application form is completed (link below)

  • The application form is filled
  • One of the members of the team looks at the application form and makes a file for the profile (We will request a picture which will go on file, this will only be shown with prior consent)
  • If a suitable match is found then we inform each party.
  • We can arrange a meeting at the masjid or alternatively the parties can meet elsewhere
  • If the meeting is successful and both parties want to go ahead
  • Both parties are recommended to complete the Fiqh of marriage and Nikah course.
  • From here onwards there will be no contact with both the parties.
  • If the meeting is not successful then we would put the profile back into the system to find another match.
  • We will be charging £30 upfront cost.
