Rules and Regulations of the Central Death Committee are subject to change and reviewed as required. Members will be informed of any change in writing. Cover subject to funds available.
- The aim of the Central Death Committee is to provide financial assistance to a member, his/her spouse and dependents in the event of a bereavement in the family
- All Muslims resident in Luton, UK are eligible for membership of the Central Death Committee
- Membership of the Central Death Committee runs on an annual basis based on the initial joining date
- Every member will have to renew his/her membership within 30 of the expiry date. Failure to renew membership results in a forfeit of his/her membership and right to claim benefits in the event of a bereavement
- Members who are abroad, shall be allowed a 30 day grace period for renewal of membership after due date
- By virtue of his/her membership, a member’s spouse and children up to age of 16 years will be treated as members of the Central Death Committee scheme
- Children for existing members will be required to pay the annual fee as soon as they reach 16 years of age. (payment has to be made within 30 days of them turning 16 if payment is not made cover will cease)
- It is the members responsibility to inform the Central Death Committee of any new dependents
- After the death of a member, his/her widow/widower and children up to the age stated in paragraph 6 will remain members of the Central Death Committee providing the widow/widower pays the subscription and subsequent renewal fee
- In the event of a widowed member, a remarriage option shall be open for spouse to become a member of funeral committee dependant on payment. If he or she fails to avail this option, his or her spouse and their children shall remain members of funeral committee only not the new spouse.
- Member’s children who reach the age of 16 years are eligible to apply for the membership in their own right by paying the annual fee
- The scheme covers ONE spouse and dependents under 16 years
- In case of divorce, membership will continue for each party individually. In the case of re- marriage an additional joining fee will be required for the new spouse to become a member
- Member’s right to claim benefits shall not be prejudiced in the event of residing outside the UK
- In the event that Central Death Committee funds are depleted, the members will collectively make up any deficit
- If a member passes away within the first year of becoming a member, they will not be covered unless the death is sudden/accidental. You will be required to list any medical conditions you have when applying. Failure to mention any condition which later becomes cause of death will result in cover being withdrawn.
JOINING FEE AND RECURRING ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION FEE
(subject to change depending on number of deaths)
The joining fee for the Central Death Committee scheme is based on age of enrolment. There is a recurring annual fee as set out in the table below.
- In case members are married, regardless of age, membership will start at £350
- Payments are to be made by standing order, bank transfer, bankers draft. Cash payments will not be accepted.
- All contributions are non-refundable.
- Both the joining fee and recurring annual subscription fee will be subject to review annually at the end of April. Existing members will be notified by December in case of a change of the fees.

Covers the cost of funeral services provided by Central Funeral Services:
- Burial plot
- Digging & chamber
- Transportation (hospital, masjid, cemetery, airport)
- Ghusl facility
- Mortuary
- Shroud/ Ghusl pack
- Casket
- Zinc lining of coffin
- Burial arrangements (inc. use of flood lights if required)
- Grave marker
- Cover for MRI scan when needed to avoid autopsy
- Maximum pay-out per funeral will be limited to the maximum cost of funeral in Luton for a Luton resident, currently £2550. This will be reviewed annually at the end of April.
- If any member moves out of Luton, the committee will only pay up to the maximum pay- out mentioned above. Any further costs will have to be covered by yourselves.
- In case of repatriation abroad a one-off payment of up to £1,500 (depending on maximum pay-out above) will be available towards funeral or travel costs.
