Luton Central Mosque is pleased to offer Year One of the Dars-e-Nizami programme, a structured part-time course designed to introduce students to the foundational sciences of traditional Islamic scholarship.
The Dars-e-Nizami curriculum has been studied for centuries in the classical centres of Islamic learning. It provides students with the essential tools required to understand the primary sources of Islam — the Qur’an and the Sunnah — through the study of the Arabic language, logic, jurisprudence and Qur’anic recitation.
Year One focuses primarily on building a strong linguistic foundation in Arabic, as the vast majority of Islamic scholarly works are preserved in the Arabic language. By studying classical texts with experienced teachers, students begin developing the skills necessary to engage with authentic Islamic scholarship.
Subjects Studied in Year One
Students will study a carefully structured selection of classical texts that introduce the key disciplines of Islamic learning.
Arabic Syntax (Nahw) – Text: Nahw Mīr : Students will begin studying the principles of Arabic grammar, learning how sentences are structured and how words function within them. This subject forms the foundation for understanding classical Arabic texts.
Arabic Morphology (Sarf) – Texts: Mīzān al-Sarf and Munsha‘ib: This subject focuses on word patterns and derivations in Arabic. Students learn how words are formed and how their meanings change through different patterns.
